A University net is created for the Advance for the Dominican Education (RUNED)

This net is integrated by INTEC, PUCMM, UNAPEC, UNIBE and UNPHU, with the purpose to offer their perspectives and contributions about the different subjects for the strengthening of opportunities of cooperation among them. 

Santo Domingo, N.D. July 2121. The rectors of five universities announced the creation of University Net for the Advance of the Dominican Education (RUNED), a space of collaboration through the one are committed to deploy several initiatives in favor of the development of the Dominican education, in special the superior education.   

The net is integrated by Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), Universidad Acción Pro Educación y Cultura (UNAPEC), Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) and la Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), whos rectors subscribed a declaration of foundation of RUNED specifying the goals of the new organ. 

They indicated that the Net is emerging based on the experience of collaboration among the universities from the creation of the Program of National Interuniversity Student Mobility (MOVENI) in 2018, and other projects in common. 

“We constituted RUNED to promote and ease the continuity and enlargement of those experiences, with full respect to the independence of action of each one of the universities members, with the flexibility that allows the deployment of projects and bilateral, multilateral or integrative actions”, state the rectors on the document. 

Th signing rectors are Julio Sánchez Maríñez, by INTEC; Ramón Alfredo de la Cruz Baldera, by PUCMM; Franklyn Holguín Haché, by UNAPEC; Julio Amado Castaños, by UNIBE and Miguel Fiallo Calderón, by UNPHU.

They also stated that RUNED will be a space through the one the academies will offer their perspective of consensus regarding subjects concerning in their quality of institutions of service to society and generators of public goods. 

Recently the institutions members of RUNED held an encounter with the Ministry of the Department of Superior Education, Science and Technology (Mescyt), Franklin García Fermin, were they shared, among other subjects, about processes of the quinquennial evaluation and follow up to the continual improvement of universities, opening of consults in the performance on the regulatory exercise by the Department, the quality assurance systems and cooperation among institutions through the crisis originated by the pandemic. The Ministry Garcia Fermin thanked the initiative of the rectors and showed his willingness to provide continuity to these periodical meetings.
