ADOFEM holds its regular meeting at UTESA 

The Dominican Association of Medicine (ADOFEM), held its regular meeting in June at Universidad Tecnológica de Santiago (UTESA), where relevant issues related to medical residences were discussed, its new regulations, as well as the transformation of the National Council of Medical Residencies of the Ministry of Public Health, an institution that has leadership in ADOFEM.

The agenda was conducted by Dr. Miguel Ernesto Robiou, current president of ADOFEM, and dean of the Faculty of Health Science of INTEC. Dr. Marcos Núñez Cuervo, President of the Pan American Federation of Medical Schools and Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of UNIBE, participated in the conference. He spoke about the academic programs that are carried out worldwide and, above all, at the Pan American level. He also urged those present to participate in the upcoming international congresses such as the Congress of Argentina, which is of the Argentine Association of Medical Schools and the Congress of the Colombian Association of Medical Schools in Cartagena de Indias, both to be held in September 2023. 

The importance of working with the technical standards of Medical Schools, in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT), was mentioned during the meeting. The next meeting of the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME) was also announced and will take place in Punta Cana in 2024.

Representatives of the following academic institutions were present: tUniversidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), O&Med, Universidad Central del Este (UCE), Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), Universidad Tecnológica de Santiago (UTESA), Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), Universidad Tecnológica del Cibao (UCATECI), Universidad Católica Nordestana (UCNE) and the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD).
