Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU) and the National Council for Climate Change and Clean Development Mechanism (CNCCMDL) signed an agreement on collaboration and inter-institutional cooperation. With this agreement, efforts will be joined to consolidate partnerships.
Both institutions seek to generate critical awareness and social sensitivity in the citizenry about the causes and impacts of climate change, with a local and regional perspective, linking the participation of academia, civil society, and the involvement of public-private partnerships. In doing so, they hope to contribute to the achievement of adequate adaptation to the effects of climate change and the reduction of greenhouse gases in priority sectors.
To implement this collaboration, actions will be carried out such as: the development of joint and ongoing training programs, as well as the exchange of instructors for the development of workshops, courses, diplomas, and other technical studies for the training of staff. These courses will be endorsed by the university and their practices can be developed in the CNCCMDL laboratories.
The signing of the agreement took place on March 21, 2023, between architect Miguel Fiallo Calderón, Rector at UNPHU, and Maximiliano Rabelais Puig Miller, Executive Vice-President of CNCCMDL.
