UNPHU is the grand champion of the University tournament of Judo

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña, UNPHU, got two gold and one bronze medal at the Judo championship of the University games, with the participation of 4 competitors. 

The athlete students at UNPHU showed sports mastery with outstanding performances of Eduardo Guzman (100 kilograms) gold and Omaira Ramirez (+78 kgs) gold, while Eliel Reyes won bronze with 90 kilos. 

In karate, the central American medalist Leidy Leon got the gold on 68 kgs. With a rosary of medals and one MVP at the University Games 0f 2014-2015, the student shows her brilliant career, silver, at the Games of Central America and the Caribbean (2014). In the discipline also stand out Hannley Sierra, with two medals. For the silver medals, the winners were Joshua Presinal (Kata modality) and Jose Rodriguez in the 60 kgs, in addition to Jesus Cuevas (+84 kgs).

Bronze winners are Sierra (in kata and 61kgs) Lendjidy Fils, Angelica Polanco, Yave Arache, and Jean Luis Martinez.

UNPHU conquered among both disciplines thirteen medals, with ten of them in karate. 

The event had student-athletes from 12 universities, UNPHU, APEC, UASD, UNEV, ITLA, PUCMM, INCE, UTESA, UCNE, INTEC, and OyM.
