Distinguished graduate of UNPHU, Dr. Rubén Peralta, obtains important achievements in 2023

Dr. Rubén Peralta, distinguished graduate and honorary professor of the School of Medicine al Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), recognized teacher and trauma surgeon in Qatar, where he resides, has been awarded on different occasions with multiple honors and recognition to his outstanding professional career.  Recently, he was recognized as the 2023 Professor of the Year by Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar,” reflecting his dedication and positive impact on the academic community.

He was also selected as one of the Leaders of the American and World Society of Trauma Surgery, a very prestigious institution in that field, which highlights his contribution in the advancement of Medicine and especially in Trauma Surgery.

In the city of Chicago, Dr. Rubén Peralta was invited to be part of the Academy of Surgery Teachers and Educators of the United States. 

About Dr. Rubén Peralta

Dr. Peralta graduated Cum Laude from UNPHU Medical School. He completed his internship and training in Surgery at North Oakland Medical Center/Wayne State University, Michigan. In Boston, he graduated from Harvard University’s advanced program of Intensive Therapy and Trauma Surgery and Surgery.

Currently, Dr. Peralta is the deputy medical director and professor of the Advanced Program of Trauma Surgery, Emergency and Critical Care Scholarships at Hamad General Hospital and Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), in Qatar. He is the author or co-author of more than 300 medical publications addressing a wide range of surgical topics and leads the Trauma Scholarship, Critical Emergency Program, an advanced medical education, and training program of more than 50 trauma surgery doctors in the Middle East region.
