Dr. Alejandro Báez launched the Dominican Week for Trauma Prevention and Support in DR.

With the aim of developing collaborations and synergies between academia, the public and private sector, the social entrepreneurship project Trauma RD (formerly Trauma RD Vision 2020), has promoted the “Dominican Trauma Week”, activity carried out in collaboration with Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña and the Dominican Academy of Medicine. The initiative included different academic and scientific activities during the week of September 4 to 10, 2023, with the purpose of providing solutions to the Dominican public health problem that represent traumas and accidents.

«This event seeks to generate solutions, through ideas that can serve as a reference for government authorities,» said Dr. Amado Alejandro Báez, specialist in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care in Trauma, who is one of the promoters, and a distinguished graduate, professor, and researcher at UNPHU. The event was coordinated by doctors Luis Taveras, Alejandro Báez and Marino Estrella and included the following activities: Press circuit and social media in collaboration with World Television, from September 4 to 10. On Wednesday, September 6, in virtual format, Reduction of Road Accidents was presented by Dr. Ramón Leonel Ureña. On Thursday 7, at 5:00 p.m. in the Max Henríquez Ureña Hall of UNPHU, the course of Bleed Control (Stop the Bleed ®) of the American College of Surgeons for the Associations of Students of Emergency Medicine (EMIG) of UNPHU, UNIBE and INTEC was given; taught by the Drs. Alexander Pacheco and Gianmarco Martínez. Some cases were also presented from the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces – Sub-Specialty Program in Trauma Surgery, Emergency and Critical Care; in virtual format. 

On Saturday, the 9th, the launch of the Dr. Tito Suero Portorreal Trauma Research Contest was held. In the framework of the Congress of the Dominican Society of Emergency Medicine (SODOEM) in Punta Cana, the international panel of experts on Trauma RD/ SODOEM: Solutions to Trauma and Accidents as Imperative of Dominican Public Health was developed, where the following doctors participated as panelists: Amado Alejandro Báez, moderator Chief Success Officer TraumaRD, ambassador for RD of the American College of Emergency Medicine (ACEP.org); Josué Hernández and Ruddy de Gracía, in charge of pre-hospital care Hospital Emergencies of the National Health Service.
