Three students of the Medical School of the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), were winners in the VIII Student Congress of Scientific and Technological Research (CEICyT 2023), scientific event of the most important of the Dominican Republic.
Carolina Bidó obtained the first place, with the research work “Results of the cochlear implant program in patients with severe bilateral profound sensorineural hearing loss in the Otological Center Deive Maggiolo, Dominican Republic”; while the second place, corresponds to Javier De Otazu, with the research topic, “Effectiveness of preventive interventions for children and adolescents at clinical risk of psychosis”. On a third place was Ashly Vólquez, who based her research on “Oral Ranula, Clinical Case Presentation and Literature Review”. This was reported by Claudia Acra Despradel, Director of Research.
The VIII Student Congress of Scientific and Technological Research, CEICyT 2023, was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT) and the Federico Henríquez and Carvajal University (UFHEC), and took place on September 13 and 14. This year, in its eighth version, the Social and Humanistic Sciences were included.
The main objective of the CEICyT is to contribute to the growth and strengthening of the Dominican scientific community, to motivate university students to see themselves as researchers and to make them understand that their effort is fundamental to give sustainability to a science and technology system that contributes significantly to national development.
The University submitted twenty-seven research papers in this edition, of which fourteen were accepted to participate.
The awards ceremony took place on December 5, 2023, at the UASD Library.
