Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña sity (UNPHU) delivered a floral offering, in the square of the Father of the Nation, located within its enclosure, on commemorating the 210th anniversary of the birth of Juan Pablo Duarte; activity organized by the Department of Letters, Philosophy, History and Geography.
The event was a tribute to the founder, visionary and Father of the Nation. Under the echoes of the slogan “God, Fatherland and Freedom” and the voices of the UNPHU choir, which performed the National Anthem and the Anthem to Duarte, the dance skills of Professor Valentina Grillo, UNPHU graduate, and Jaycel Alcántara and Laura Kranwinkel, from the Royalty Dance Place academy, were added together with the poem “Juan Pablo Duarte” from the student of Clinical Psychology, Alejandro González. Professor Berkis Grisset Santos gave a reading of the biographical sketch of the famous patriot.
The floral offering was delivered by Patricia Matos, academic vice chancellor and Engineer Walter Lendor, Vice Chancellor of Institutional Development.
Also present. Geisha Carpio, dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Education, and directors, teachers and students participated.
The academic component of the commemoration was the talk entitled: “Duarte: yesterday, today and always” an updated, critical, and vivid look of Juan Pablo Duarte, of his biography, ideology, and transcendence, developed masterfully by the Benny Pérez, professor of the Department of History, in the hall Max Henríquez Ureña. He shared with the students the challenge of recovering the Duartian’s ideology and applying it to their lives today and as future professionals and citizens of the republic, for whose freedom he lived, suffered, fought, and gave all his strength.
