UNPHU launches Master’s Degree in Inclusive Education and Diversity Care

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU) launched the Master’s program in Inclusive Education and Attention to Diversity. By including this master’s degree in its academic offer, the university sets out the obligation, in conjunction with the State’s obligation, to adopt a national policy aimed at promoting equal opportunities and treatment in the field of education. This means maintaining, in all public and private establishments of the same grade, an education of the same level and conditions in terms of quality, adopting the competency-based approach of the Dominican Department of Education.

The purpose of the program is to train specialists with knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable them to establish a regulatory framework for inclusive education and care for vulnerable populations. It seeks to implement flexible evaluation proposals adjusted to the diversity of school, labor, and social scenarios. This program is aimed at professionals in education, responsible for educational management, guidance, management, and technical staff of MINERD, teachers of initial, basic, and middle education and directors of public and private educational centers.

Welcoming words were delivered by Dr. Leonor Farray Bergés, Vice-Chancellor of Postgraduate and Continuing Education, followed by motivational words from María Angelina Rodríguez Hermida, superintendent of the Dominican University Foundation Pedro Henríquez Ureña FUDPHU. Also Laura Pérez, coordinator of the Bachelor of Education, mentioned Special Education contributed.

The presentation of the master’s degree was given by Ms. Yolimar Mejías, coordinator of the program, who also thanked the collaboration and participation of the Manos Unidas por el Autismo Foundation in the master of ceremony, by Elián Guzmán and Laura Dichón; the Dominican Foundation of the Blind FUDCI, the Institute of Help to the Deaf “Santa Rosa”, and the School of Special Education Help Me Grow, who oversaw the protocol.
