Students and athletes Camila Almonte and Carlina Morati, from Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), participated in the archery tournament of the 2023 World Cup, held between June 13 and 18, based in Medellín, Colombia, where Olympic and world champions competed.
Student Carlina Morati demonstrated her prowess in taking on and disqualifying Alejandra Usquiano of Colombia, who holds the 11th place in the world ranking in the world-wide tournament. Carlina Morati’s win is a testament to her talent, dedication, discipline, and skills in the sport of archery.
The 2023 World Cup will have four stops: Turkey (Antalya), Popular Republic of China (Shanghai), Colombia (Medellín) and France (Paris). The grand final will be held in Hermosillo, Mexico, and will include the men’s and women’s categories of curved and composite bow, but only the curved category is part of the Olympic program. The world’s top archers have prepared for the 2023 World Cup archery, a key competition on the road to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
