The Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU), the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC), the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra University (PUCMM), APEC University, and the Ibero-American University (UNIBE) signed an agreement of inter-university mobility, which allows students from these universities to send some academic periods in any of the other affiliated universities.
This was established in the collaboration agreement signed by the five Rectors of these universities, which formalizes the creation of the first National Inter-University Student Mobility Program in the country, an initiative whose objective is that the Dominican academic community be able to exchange experiences that will contribute to strengthening the integral development of students, and will generate synergy among these institutions of higher learning.
The signing ceremony was held in a hotel in the city of Santo Domingo, in the presence of the Minister for Higher Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Alejandrina Germán. It was headed by Architect Miguel Fiallo, Rector of the UNPHU; the Rector of INTEC, Dr. Rolando M. Guzmán; the Reverend Dr. Alfredo De la Cruz Baldera, Rector of the PUCMM; Dr. Franklyn Holguín Haché, Rector of UNAPEC; and Dr. Julio Amado Castaños, Rector of UNIBE. These universities mark the beginning of this cooperation, leaving open the possibility that other institutions may join at a later stage.
Through the Program students from the universities signing the agreement can get to know a different academic dynamics, can take courses that their program doesn´t offer, can experience different teaching systems and learning tools, and can broaden their professional circle, meeting other teachers and students who will become their colleagues in the near future. At the end of this experience, each student will return to his original program, transferring the courses taken during the exchange to his own academic record.
This program represents a model of cooperation successfully implemented between institutions of higher education in Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and other countries, and which is being implemented for the first time in the Dominican Republic in the interest of establishing, developing, and consolidating cooperation between institutions of higher education.

Students aspiring to participate in the National Inter-University Student Mobility Program must have a grade point average of over 3 points, and must present a series of documents with their application. The agreement establishes a maximum number of students who will be received by each university in each academic period.
