UNPHU Receives Visit by Members of NLA University College

Included within the framework of the international agreements signed by the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU) was the visit on February 19th  to 23rd by 22 students and 2 professors from the NLA University College in Bergen, Norway.

Coordinated by the Vice Rector for Graduate Studies and Internationalization, the event included a series of presentations about the Dominican Republic on the following: the Dominican Educational System, by Architect José Constanzo; a Course on the Spanish Language by Professor Alejandro Aguilar; the Dominican State, Policies and International Relations, by Professor Reynaldo Espinal; Traditional and Modern Medicine, Present Status in the Dominican Republic, by Dr. Nazareth Hazbún, Dominican History, by Dr. Anel Payero; Traditional and Modern Music in the Dominican Republic, by the UNPHU International Contemporary Music School, among others.

In addition, they were given a tour of the National Palace by the office of the presidency, as well as the National Botanical Garden, and witnessed an interactive activity with students from the UNPHU International Contemporary Music School and the Folkloric Ballet.

Student Mobility is one of the most dynamic aspects of globalization and internationalization for universities, and those involved benefit by the creation of academic links for the development of joint projects of academic collaboration at all levels: student, teacher, and administration.  It promotes the standardization of educational systems, and creates jobs or joint endeavours in the fields of research and development.  Also, the presence of foreign students in the classroom enriches the teaching-learning processes themselves.

On this occasion mobility involved students taking anthropology courses in NLA University College.  “This type of exchange will be followed by applying it to undergraduate and graduate students from the university,” explained Licenciada Leonor Farray, Vice Rector for Graduate Studies and Internationalization.
