A talk at UNPHU on “Effects of the space-sensory environment on cognitive processes of people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s dementia”

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), through the Faculty of Humanities and Education, its School of Psychology together with the Student Advisory Board of the School of Medicine (JAE-MED), gave the talk “Effects of the space-sensory environment on cognitive processes of people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease” by the graduates Jennifer De Lancer and Laura Rodríguez.

The activity allowed students of the general training cycle to know about the Alzheimer’s neurodegenerative disease. Evidence was also presented of the influence and importance of the sensory space environment in people with Alzheimer’s disease, as well as the influence of individualization and humanization of the disease. Good practices were also presented to improve the sensory space of the centers aiding. 

The event was held on World Alzheimer’s Day, which is commemorated on September 21 of each year and is promoted by the WHO, which motivates awareness of the disease as a type of dementia. People with the disease have problems with memory, reasoning, and behavior.
