Santo Domingo, October 2025
The Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU), through its Special Education School and with support from ASPIRE-COOP ASPIRE and the Pedro Martínez Foundation, organized the 8th UNPHU 2025 Educational Inclusion Day. This event served as a formative and reflective space that brought together professionals, teachers, and students dedicated to inclusive education in the Dominican Republic.
Over 180 people attended the meeting, including directors of educational centers, teachers in training, and specialists in education and psychology.
The primary goal of this day was to encourage reflection and sharing of best practices related to educational inclusion, based on a human rights approach.
In addition, the topics discussed focused on strengthening the professional skills of teachers, directors and students of education; analyzing pedagogical, neuro-educational and technological strategies that favor the attention to diversity; and disseminating innovative experiences of inclusive educational centers that serve as a model to implement equitable and sustainable practices at the different levels of the education system, among other aspects.
At the same time, this learning space examined the opportunities provided by artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies to improve accessibility and personalize learning in inclusive settings.
The lectures were delivered by renowned professionals in the educational and psychological fields, including: Luz Acosta Molina, a specialist in Neuro-psychopedagogy and Educational Inclusion who is in charge of the Department of Psycho-pedagogy and Inclusion at CAID; Yinet Ogando, a clinical psychologist and coordinator of the Behavioral Intervention Service at CAID Santo Domingo Este; Ariela Florián Herasme, a school psychologist and psycho-pedagogical support therapist; and Hermes Ariel Concepción, an expert in artificial intelligence.
