Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña (UNPHU) and its Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences held the Forum about the right of association under the Constitution of the Dominican Republic.
At the event, there were four discussion tables about different sides regarding the right of association.
The first panel approached the freedom of association and political parties under Denny Díaz, legal counselor of the Central Electoral Board (JCE). The second is about freedom of association regarding work law under Amaury Reyes, professor of the faculty of Legal Sciences at UNPHU. The third panel, Right of Association in the commercial and financial scope, under Dr. Nampi Rodriguez, and the fourth, about the free association of boards and professionals, whose speaker was Miguel Guerrero, journalist and writer, member of the Dominican Academy of History, whose most recent publication is “Check to freedom. The right of no association”, approached extensively the subject of this event.
Dr. Juan Alfredo Biaggi, dean of Legal and Political Sciences at UNPHU, Judge of the Superior Court of Dominican Republic, expressed that the activity was within the goals of the university of promoting the knowledge of central freedoms granted in the Dominican Constitution and securing the principles and fundamental values in which the Dominican democracy is based.
At the end of each panel were the Questions and Answers.
Acknowledged law professionals discussed the different panels’ subjects, including the magister Rafael Vasquez Goico, Judge of the Third hall of the Supreme Court of Justice; Laura Serrata, and magister Julio Anibal Suarez, for the first panel.
The second-panel lawyers were Harold Modesto, from the Defense of the People, Danilsa Pena, and Nassef Perdomo.
On the third panel, the lawyers Félix Tena, Jaime Rodriguez, and Patricia Santana, and on the fourth, the journalist Aurelio Henriquez, president of the Dominican Board of Professional Journalists; Miguel Surún Hernandez, president of the Board of lawyers and the and the agronomist Dolores Nunez, President of the Board of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (CODIA).
