The teacher and coordinator of the School of Architecture and Urbanism of Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), is the first Dominican to win a research position of the VENTUS program, from the area of cooperation and development of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). This program aims to facilitate short research stays for technical and research staff from the Global South at the UPV.
The research proposal of Architect Mizocky Mota, develops on the inclusion of the gender perspective in architecture and the city, with the tutors Ph.D Eva Álvarez and Ph.D Carlos José Gómez, teachers and researchers experts in the subject. The proposal has the support of the Cultural Center of Spain in the Dominican Republic of the AECID and the Gender, Architecture and City Unit of the School of Architecture and Urbanism of the Faculty of Architecture and Arts at UNPHU.
More than 30 researchers from the south of the world, from countries such as Argentina, Colombia, Uganda, Sudan, Ecuador, Cuba, among others, applied to this call.
The Gender Unit, Architecture and City Unit was inaugurated in August 2020 with the presence of expert Zaida Muxí, with the aim of disseminating and mainstreaming the gender perspective and human rights focus in architectural and urban processes, linking the academic community, professionals and institutions linked to the production of knowledge.
About the VENTUS Program
It is a program to facilitate short research stays and transfer to technical and research personnel from the Global South at the UPV. This will make it possible to strengthen the capacities of centers, institutes, universities, NGOs, and other entities with which the UPV collaborates, and which are in need of this type of support.
The position will last a minimum of 2 weeks and a maximum of 6 weeks, ending with a maximum date of March 30, 2023.
About Architect Mizocky Mota
The architect is a graduate at UNPHU, with a master’s degree in Landscape Architecture and Sustainability at the University Institute of Architecture of Venice (IUAV). She is currently general coordinator and professor at the School of Architecture and Urbanism at UNPHU, architectural design, urbanism, and sustainability. She also works in the public sector as a territorial planner in the Vice-Ministry of Territorial Planning and Regional Development of the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development.
