The rectors of the universities that compose the “University Network for the Advancement of Dominican Education” (Red Universitaria por el Avance de la Educación Dominicana (RUNED, held a meeting at the end of the year, in which the actions of the period that ends were analyzed and gave way to the planning of the agenda to be developed in common during the year 2024.
The rectors present during the meeting were Miguel Fiallo Calderón, from the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU); Cecilio Espinal, from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM); Franklyn Holguín Haché, from UNAPEC; Odile Camilo Vincent, from Universidad Iberoamericana (Unibe), and Julio Sánchez Maríñez, from Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC).
The meeting reaffirmed as part of the planning for 2024, maintaining the exchange and cooperation between its academic vice-chancellors, research vice chancellors and vice chancellors of administration and finance, as has been happening since the formation of RUNED.
The participating universities ratified the Convention for the Implementation of a National Inter-University Student Mobility Program (MOVENI), established since 2018; which allows their students to access courses of the academic offer of each of them.
At the international level, they appreciated their participation in the Inter-University Development Center (CINDA), a collaborative network founded in 1971 and selectively integrated by 37 institutions of higher education of recognized prestige and tradition in Ibero-America, which was incorporated last October by UNPHU with the support of INTEC, PUCMM and UNIBE, and which will soon be incorporated by UNAPEC.
In addition, the rectors decided, by consensus, to appoint in the pro tempore coordination of RUNED, the Rector of INTEC, Julio Sánchez Mariñez, responsibility that will exercise until December 2024.

The University Network for the Advancement of Dominican Education is composed of PUCMM, UNPHU, UNAPEC, INTEC and UNIBE. It was established in May 2021 as a space for collaboration and cultivation of joint initiatives in favor of the advancement of Dominican education, especially its higher education.
According to their founding document, the five universities share the north of the commitment to excellence, quality, and relevance of their work and academic, scientific and technological contributions to the sustainable development of the country for the benefit of the quality of life of all its inhabitants. By integrating as a network, they work as institutional partners, in a horizontal relationship, combining skills and competences in the fields of education, research and service to society; encouraged by the principle that “together we are and can be more”.
