Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), through its Research Directorate, held on April 14, 2023, the Science and Research Conference for Climate Action. The conference featured two presentations; one of the results reports of a research project sponsored by the Avina Foundation, and another on the research projects of the National Council for Climate Change and Clean Development Mechanism (CNCCMDL), sponsored by Fondocyt.
The research results of the project Impulouth – Global Cooperation for Climate Action: South participation in climate negotiations and commitments 2020-2023 were presented by Natividad Pantaleón and Daniel Abreu, who showed evidence of the analysis of needs, capacity gaps, knowledge in the assessment of impacts, vulnerabilities, and risks of climate change, with emphasis on gender in coastal-marine areas and the agricultural sector of the Dominican Republic.
Impulsouth aims to increase knowledge and capabilities to improve climate action, to strengthen its commitment to the Paris Agreement’s “cycle of ambition” for the 2023 Global Balance Sheet. Its focus is to strengthen the role of new agents of change (young people and women) through research and training.
Meanwhile, the presentation of the Scientific Research Unit of the National Council for Climate Change and Clean Development Mechanism (CNCCMDL), oversawed by Denia Cid.
