UNPHU and El Hueco Caribe Seal Strategic Alliance to Advance Social Entrepreneurship and Sustainability

Santo Domingo, DN – October 2025.

The Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU) and the nonprofit organization El Hueco Caribe, which specializes in social entrepreneurship, signed a strategic agreement to strengthen their joint capabilities and foster mutual academic, scientific, and cultural collaboration.

The collaborative framework comprises a wide range of initiatives focused on social entrepreneurship, transformative leadership, MSMEs, innovation, impact, and sustainability, tailored to the needs of the groups.

The Convention, valid for five (5) years, aims for joint collaboration in implementing training programs focused on entrepreneurship, creativity, and the development of impact MSMEs. It also includes professional internships for students in business, science, and law.

Additionally, incubation, acceleration, and measurement spaces for social enterprises will be established; in the field of research, academic alliances will be formed, and joint presentations of international cooperation projects will be conducted. 

The main purpose of the agreement is to support the UNPHU community—including students, entrepreneurs, staff, teachers, and researchers—as well as external micro-entrepreneurs involved in the social and environmental entrepreneurship ecosystem. 

This alliance marks a significant step forward for UNPHU in its mission to promote innovation with purpose and social responsibility, and for the El Hueco Caribe Association in expanding to build a strong ecosystem of social entrepreneurship in the Dominican Republic.
