Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), through the Faculty of Science and Technology, celebrated Engineer’s Week, in which a series of talks were given with the participation of professionals and outstanding graduates in the field.
The talks were given on three consecutive days. The first day was in charge of the Schools of Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, and Geomatics. They began with the following exhibitions: “A brief historical and current account of the Dominican-Haitian border” by engineer Gustavo Rodríguez; “Use of drone technology in the construction of civil works” taught by the Dominican engineer Teodoro Jiménez; and “The Power of Data” by engineer Héctor A. Santillán Faulkner.
The second meeting was attended by distinguished graduates of the School of Civil Engineering, who presented topics based on their experiences and experiences in their professional practice. The talks were: “Typical errors in masonry and reinforced concrete constructions” by engineer Francisco Martínez; “Maintenance and security of long-range bridges” by engineer Minosca Alcántara; who is the executive director of the Hudson Valley Bridge Authority of New York City, in the United States, and to end the day, engineer Carlos Troncoso made his presentation “Reflections on the durability and constructability of structures.”
The last day was for the School of Chemical Engineering, with the talks: “Role of the chemical engineer in the radiopharmaceutical industry” by engineer Nicole Novoa; “Macrophages as an alternative treatment” by Dr. Ramón Sánchez; “Research and innovation trainee program,” presented by Quala; and finally, to close the activity, “Changing the world” was exhibited by the organization “Changing the world” by engineer Sharely Acevedo.
The academic authorities of the Faculty, the Dean, Engineer Doris Peña, and the directors of the different schools participated.
