Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), and its Central Library, carried out the activity of welcoming the workshop of Writing La Oveja Negra – Second Epoch.
The words of welcome to the new workshops were offered by the Eloísa Marrero, director of the Library.
Alberto Garrido, who is the workshop facilitator and director of the School of Philosophy and Letters, was present at the event. Garrido is a poet, storyteller and essayist, has published 20 books, and has several awards such as Casa de las Américas Prize in short story and Casa de Teatro Prize in different genres. For his literary merits he received the distinction For National Culture. He heads the departments of Letters, Philosophy and History and Geography.
The event was attended by Victor Andrés de Oleo (Young Literature Award from the Book Fair in Santo Domingo and member of the workshop La Oveja Negra, first generation) and Alejandro González, (Poetry Contest Award to Duarte, member of the workshop La Oveja Negra, first generation).
The presentation of the workshops was given by Alberto Garrido, who informed that the workshop will have a monthly meeting, the third Wednesday of each month.
The activity, which took place on July 26, 2022, in the Lobby of the Central Library, was animated with the musical performance of the students of the School of Music UNPHU, Laura Maciel, in voice and Diógenes Mercedes, guitarist.
