Santo Domingo, D.N., November 2025-
Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU) celebrated its ordinary CLXV graduation by investing 944 professionals from the faculties of Architecture and Arts; Sciences and Technology; Social and Legal Sciences; Humanities and Education; and Health Sciences, as well as postgraduate.
On November 20, 21, and 22, UNPHU held its ordinary graduation ceremony, which was divided into six ceremonies held on the university campuses in Santo Domingo and La Vega. The academic authorities, led by the rector, architect Miguel Fiallo Calderón, together with the vice-rectors, deans, and teachers, presided over the investiture ceremonies.
In his message to the graduates, the architect Fiallo Calderón reiterated the importance of research and the need to contribute applied solutions to the environmental, energy, and sustainable development challenges that will define the next decade.
“The new professional of this era must, in addition to mastering technical knowledge, develop socio-emotional competencies such as adaptability, empathy, collaboration, and effective communication, and demonstrate a deep commitment to environmental sustainability. A few weeks ago, we opened the UNPHU Center for Sustainability. Pedro Henríquez Ureña dreamed of a cultivated, ethical, and deeply human America. Today, with this Center, we update part of that dream by understanding sustainable development as a way to serve, protect, and build community,” he said.
As guest speakers, distinguished UNPHU graduates participated in the graduation ceremonies, including Milagros Abreu Debord, president of the Fundación Universitaria Dominicana Pedro Henríquez Ureña (FUDPHU), who advised graduates to “cultivate genuine bonds, listen attentively, celebrate others’ achievements, and build community wherever you go, and never forget that no one goes far alone.”
Similarly, in their speeches, Celso Juan Marranzini, president of the National Council of Private Companies (CONEP); José Alejandro Ayuso, judge member of the Constitutional Court of the Dominican Republic; Dr. Amado Alejandro Báez, professor, researcher, and diplomat; and Lil Esteva, executive vice president of Induveca, urged new graduates to innovate with purpose, keep learning, exercise their own judgment and courage, and, above all, sensitivity.
At each of the graduations, the students with the highest honors: Natasha Gomez Polanco of the bachelor’s degree in Education; Nasira Nayeli Nolasco Herrera of the career in Civil Engineering; Yislenny Alejandrina Santos Mañón of the bachelor’s degree in Law; Ashly Isabel Volquez Cuesta of the career in Dentistry; and Frank Feliz Tineo Jiménez of the bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, pronounced the words of thanks
Once again, Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence, innovation and research, and to training professionals capable of positively impacting Dominican and global society.
