The Human-Centered Management Department of the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU) recently inaugurated its Breast-Feeding Center.
The ceremony turned into a very emotional event for each of those present, due to the importance of the center for each of the mothers working in the university.
The center will be available for both the administrative and the academic employees of the university, as well as those students who wish to breast-feed their babies or extract maternal milk for manual or electrical storage.
The center will be open from Monday through Friday between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., and Saturdays from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. noon. Any lactating mother who wants to can use it; she just has to come to the Human-Centered Management Department, fill out a form, and wait for it to be validated.
Licenciada Daniela Franco de Guzmán, Academic Vice Rector, who gave the opening remarks, stated that “for the UNPHU it is with great satisfaction that we are able to offer lactating mothers a pleasant and welcoming space during their non-working hours so that they can give their babies the best food possible.”
Attending the event were vice rectors, deans, directors, collaborators, and members of the general public.
