AULA Journal  Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU) celebrated the 50th anniversary of the first publication of AULA, a scientific journal of Humanities and Social Sciences. The event held a panel with the theme “Scientific journals in the Dominican Republic”, with the participation of national and international professional’s experts in the subject, doctors Armando Barrios, Beatriz Veracoechea and Gerardo Tibaná, and moderated by the University Ainelid Taveras Hernández, associate editor of AULA Magazine.
This is a historic date for the University. Its first print publication was made in 1972; its second period began in July 1995 and its third and current, in July 2017, when the online publication was added, becoming exclusively digital in July 2020 (https://revistas.unphu.edu.do/index.php/aula). 

Since its inception, the journal has targeted researchers, academics, professors, and graduate students. The publications in AULA, are free, has no cost derived from the management, evaluation or publication of the manuscript and is strict in compliance with international standards of scientific publication.

In his words, to leave inaugurated the sample of all the copies of the journal published in its three stages, both physical and digital; chancellor Fiallo said about AULA that: “since its emergence, has been a source of pride for the whole family UNPHU, as one of the emblems that consolidate our reputation as the university of excellence that we are: one of the most recognized in the concert of higher education institutions at the national level, and is perceived from the international level.”

The topics addressed during the panel were: How have the journals published in RD sought to internationalize, What would be the languages of publication?, What actions do they take for the DR academics to read their journal?, as well as scientific writing.

The opening words of the event were given by the chancellor at UNPHU Architect Miguel Fiallo Calderón, next to Architect Raúl De Moya Español, president of the Pedro Henríquez Ureña Education System and the University’s Board of Directors; and Alejandro Aguilar, editor-in-chief of the Journal, who expressed his appreciation of the importance of this celebration.

Josefina Pepín, Vice-Chancellor of Linkage, Research, and Internationalization was present at the event; and other academic authorities, as well as research professors and students.

The event took place on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at the UNPHU Central Library.
