Dr. Brunel Santos assumes the presidency of ADOFEM for the period 2023-2025

On Tuesday, October 17, at Universidad Católica Nordestana (UCNE), through the Faculty of Health and Medicine, was sworn in as the new president of the Dominican Association of Medical Schools and Faculties (ADOFEM), for the period 2023-2025, Dr. Brunel Santos Salazar, who is in turn director of the School of Medicine of the referred institution.

Dr. Brunel Santos Salazar is a medical surgeon, professor and a dedicated medical education professional who has been part of several ADOFEM directives. Santos Salazar was sworn in by Dr. Fernando Santamaría, associate dean of the Health Area of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and its School of Medicine, who was sworn in as the oldest member of ADOFEM.

For his part, the outgoing president of the Association, Dr. Miguel Robiou Kranwinkel, after a successful period of two years, presented the memoirs at the meeting for change of management and showed the great achievements within the exercise of his functions and his entire team.  In this regard, Robiou highlighted that, both in his functions in the National Committee of Medical Recertification (CONAREM), as well as in the National Council of Medical Residencies; he was actively participating and advancing in achievements that today exhibit these institutions in various topics, such as the standards of approval, regulation and accreditation of medical schools and also their different participation in activities at local and international level, including the different congresses in Mexico, Colombia and the United States. 

The new ADOFEM board is composed of the following deans representing the 11 faculties of Health Sciences members of the Association:

President, Dr. Brunel Santos Salazar; Vice President, Dr. Marcos Núñez Cuervo, of UNIBE; General Secretary or Secretary of Minutes, Dr. Bienvenido Veras, of UCATECI; Treasurer, Dr. Mario Uffre, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of UASD.

The different deans of the faculties of health sciences members of ADOFEM were present at this activity: Dr. Danilo Ricourt, dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of UTESA; Dr. Marcos Díaz, representing Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) with Dr. Luis Ronald Capellán, director of the School of Medicine; as well as Dr. Rosa Céspedes, dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Universidad Central del Este (UCE) and Dr. William Duke, dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU).
