Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña, through its Faculty of Humanities and Education and its School of Psychology, conducted the talk What to do with children with ASD?, dictated by the graduates, Alfonsina Madera, a marketer, author of the book Con A de Amigo; and Betzabel Castillo, a psychologist, and therapist at Robert Reid Cabral Hospital.
Speakers offered information on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) commonly called Autism, addressing topics such as: signs and symptoms of the disorder, such as recognizing children with ASD, their learning needs, and their emotional state; as well as tips and resources to help families with children with this condition.
The meeting was aimed at sensitizing the community and motivating them to prepare to address these cases with ethics and commitment. Geisha Carpio, dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Education, and Marisol Ivonne Guzmán, director of the School of Psychology were present.
The event was attended by students and teachers from the UNPHU community, who had the opportunity to hear the testimony of the two speakers regarding the approach, as mothers and practicing professionals. It was held on July 21, 2023, in the Conference Room of Building 3, first floor.
