José Alejandro Ayuso de los Santos is recognized

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña and its Department of Management of Institutional Experience and Graduate Management, recognized José Alejandro Ayuso de los Santos, in the second edition 2022- 2023. This recognition is the highest award that the university gives to its graduates and is granted considering the professional, business, and contributions made for the benefit of society. 

Ayuso de los Santos is notable for his training in the area of International, Economic and Constitutional Law, with more than 25 years of professional practice as a lawyer and consultant in the private sector and experience in the public service, performing functions of great relevance. He is currently a judge of the Constitutional Court of the Dominican Republic.

The award was given by the rector of the university, Architect Miguel Fiallo Calderón, accompanied by Laura Veloz, Director of Institutional Experience and Graduate Management. The recognition ceremony took place on February 10, 2023, in the rectory of the university.

About José Alejandro Ayuso de los Santos

Graduated from the law degree at UNPHU, with master’s degrees in the areas of Public Law, Development Law, International Law, Economic Law, and Constitutional Law.  In the labor sphere, he has held various positions as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Legal Consultant of the Executive Branch, Adviser to the Senate of the Republic and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Legal Director of the Edesur and Edenorte Electricity Distribution Companies, and Consultant to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), as technical coordinator of the project on Institutional Reform and Management Modernization of the State Secretariat for Foreign Affairs. 

At the academic level, he has worked as a professor at the postgraduate level. He has been the author of several essays and articles published, as well as maintaining, since 1998, a weekly column in the newspaper El Nacional. He is a founding member and current treasurer of the Dominican Institute of Constitutional Law (IDDEC) and executive president of the Equity Foundation, Inc., an entity dedicated to promoting constitutional culture in the country.
