The rector of Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), Architect Miguel Fiallo Calderón, stated during his speech of Ordinary Graduation 161, that the academy supports the National Pact for the Formulation and Implementation of State Policies in the Face of the Situation in Haiti.
“I would like to take advantage of this academic forum to reiterate UNPHU’s support for this document that we recently signed and which makes the voice of the Dominican Republic heard, making it clear that it is neither fair nor possible for our nation to assume the responsibilities that, in the face of the crisis in the neighboring country, are the responsibility of the Haitian people themselves and, in a subsidiary way, of the international community, respectively,” the rector said.
The National Pact was created based on four priority axes: Foreign Affairs Policy. Migration Policy, Border Policy, and Economic Policy; he explained, adding: “This issue deserves our attention and follow-up.”
