UNPHU celebrates World Quality Day 2023

Culture of Quality Assurance in Organizations: Challenges and trends; were the topics addressed during the celebration. 

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña celebrated Quality Day on November 10, this event was planned by the Vice Rectory of Institutional Development, Quality Assurance and Projects, it should be noted that the main objective of this celebration is to promote the importance of this item in all areas.

The opening words of this activity were given by Patricia Matos, academic vice chancellor, who highlighted the objective of providing a space in which the educational community reflects on the different cultural factors that can facilitate the implementation of a quality management system effectively.

During the day, two conferences and a panel discussion were held by experts in quality management, addressing the main theme “Culture of quality assurance in organizations: challenges and trends”, developed by Engineer Gerle Peña representing ASQ (American Society for Quality) and its section in Santo Domingo.

Within the activities carried out, Brenda Hazim, Director of Quality Assurance presented the processes of the UNPHU quality management system, part of the work team and proceeded to read the Quality Policy, then motivating the participants to sign it. In the same order, two outstanding instances were recognized, taking into consideration the performance in the areas of the UNPHU Quality Management System, being awarded to the Deanship of Student Welfare, received by the Dean Adrián de Óleo, and in the academic area, to the School of Psychology, received by its director, Marisol Guzmán.

As the last activity of this day, we held a panel with the subject “The importance of implementing a quality management system in higher education institutions”, counted with Dr. Claudia Scharf, director of the School of Medicine and Engineer Nelbry Zapata, director of the School of Industrial Engineering, acting as moderator Engineer Brenda Hazim. The importance of these systems and how they can guarantee educational quality, while allowing to remain competitive in an environment of constant evolution.
