UNPHU hosts the XI Latin American Congress of Music Schools, CLAEM XI

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), will become the venue of the XI Latin American Congress of Music Schools, CLAEM XI, organized by the Latin American Association of Music Schools (ALAEMUS), and the International School of Contemporary Music of the university; to be held from May 22 to 26, 2023, in the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The congress is aimed at music students, independent musicians, teachers, and directors of ALAEMUS member institutions and institutions invited to participate as observers. Assemblies will be held with professors from all over Latin America; lectures, master clinics, workshops, conferences, integration jams, concerts by musicians and academics from participating countries. 

The Inaugural concert will feature Grammy Awards multi winner Néstor Torres with the Big Band of the School of Music of UNPHU, directed this time by Maestro Corey Allen.

There are master clinical guidelines given by national and international exhibitors among which are confirmed João Marscondes of Brazil, David Hernán Sarmiento of Chile; of Colombia John Alexander Moreno, Leopoldo Calderón and Nacho Nieto; of Mexico, Jorge Rocha and Samuel Pina; of Peru, Daniel Ravelo Franco and Oscar Stagnaro; of Spain, Beatriz Alonzo and Miguel Manescau; of Argentina Ale Demogli; of Puerto Rico, Rubén Amador, and of Dominican Republic, Federico Méndez and Toné Vicio. 

Those registered for the XI CLAEM, don’t pay tickets. Lockers for the public will be on sale at UEPA Tickets, CCN, Nacional supermarkets and Jumbo.
