UNPHU invests 608 new professionals in different areas to celebrate its 57th anniversary

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), on the scene of its 57th anniversary, celebrates its 160th Ordinary Graduation, in which 608 new professionals from different areas are invested. 

The graduation ceremony takes place in three days, on April 20 at the Santo Domingo campus, 440 undergraduate students were invested; it will continue tomorrow Friday 21st, to deliver 50 postgraduate degrees and on Saturday 22nd, in La Vega facilities, 118 certifications will be delivered.

In the commencement address, the rector of the University, Architect Miguel Fiallo Calderón, said: «The challenges we face are increasingly complex and require creative and innovative solutions. In neighboring Haiti, there is a crisis with high levels of violence, affecting all spheres of life and threatening to produce a humanitarian catastrophe. That crisis is already affecting our country, so much, that even our territorial integrity is being threatened.”

«With your work you are called to leave your mark on a society and a humanity that live decisive moments in the conformation of new paradigms; in a world that we will perhaps begin to call post-contemporary; a world that from now on will exceed and surpass in all fields of human endeavor, the known so far.

Times change, the essence of progress does not stop or diminish the will to achieve it at every moment,” he continued.

The speeches on behalf of the graduates were delivered by: the Chemical Engineer, Raúl Alcibíades Pérez Mena, who obtained the highest academic grade of the Santo Domingo Campus in the celebration of his degree; while at the celebration of Graduate School, Soraya Eugenia Pérez Gautier, Master in Museum Studies; and for the La Vega Campus, the Law Graduate, Bianka Marie Almonte Pearson, will do it. 

The graduates correspond to the faculties of: Architecture and Arts, Science and Technology, Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Economics and Social Sciences, Humanities and Education, Legal and Political Sciences and Health Sciences, and the different postgraduate programs offered by the institution.
