Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), through its School of Geomatic Engineering and the Coordinating Office of Air and Space (PRAE), conducted the Workshop “GNSS and Drone Applications in Validation Campaign: Case Project AMPERE”, as part of the dissemination activities of the Operational Validation Campaign of the Project Asset Mapping Platform for Emerging Countries Electrification (AMPERE).
At the workshop participated Pedro Ml. Cabrera Jr., aeronautical adviser of UNPHU; engineer Gustavo Rodríguez, director of the School of Geomatic Engineering and Surveying of the same university; engineer Marco Nisi, general coordinator of the AMPERE project and engineer Rafael Núñez, director of Operations of the company UAV Dominican Republic.
The methodology applied for the collection and capture of data was presented, the software and hardware equipment used to know the results obtained during the pilot test carried out on the sector “Los Tres Brazos”, in the circuit LM6902 served by the Distributor of Electricity of the East (EDEESTE). The sample covered a polygon of 190,000 m2 of photogrammetric survey, for the generation of digital mapping of the area of interest.
The processing of the collected data generated products such as the orthomosaic, which is a georeferenced and high-resolution reconstruction of the site of interest, which serves to identify the assets and elements that make up the electrical network of the area (poles, cables, connecting boxes, transformers, insulators, etc.). The optical images were generated in HD allowing the visualization with extended zoom, of small elements with anomalies that compromise the correct operation of the system, as well as the acquisition of thermal images with specialized sensors that generate temperature ranges for the detection of hot spots and faults of the aging of the components.
At the event attended stakeholders such as the Ministry of Energy and Mines and its Project Implementation Unit;
Electricity (EDESUR, EDENORTE and EDEESTE); the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute; the Delegation of the European Union to the Dominican Republic; the
National Geological Service; the Military Cartographic Institute; the Dominican College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors; the Emergency Operations Center; the National Geographic Institute; the National Authority for Maritime Affairs; as well as personalities representing the university, architect Eugenio Pérez Montas, advisor ad vitam UNPHU and Dr. Fabio Herrera, vice president of the Dominican University Foundation Pedro Henríquez Ureña (FUDU).
