Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), through its Department of Letters and Philosophy, launched the book «The Exceptional Beauty of Summer» by the author Luis Lorente, winner of the Casa de las Américas Prize 2022.
In his book the poet advances through 20 poems and 58 pages sweetly terrible, until he seems to overcome the inclemency of the insular summer and, in a more human atmosphere, in an almost bucolic scenario, he stops moving, settles under the sky, on the bench of a park facing the sea, and from his stature as definitive poet in the concert of Cuban letters.
In the work transcend the simple things of life: the Hershey train, the light of the sea, the summer. The author displays his visions and memories that become embodied and evaporate. The exceptional beauty of summer brings together images, written in verse, that come together and dance like a unique and strong poem.
The event counted the participation of Ramón Chávez and Alberto Garrido, director of the Department of Philosophy and Letters, was also present the Cuban troubadour, Celestino Esqueré. It was aimed at students and was held on June 7, 2023, in the Max Henríquez Ureña Hall.
