UNPHU develops innovation in favor of the national electrical sector

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.- Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña (UNPHU), through its Air and Space Project Coordinator Office (PRAE), subscribed to the Geomatic School works in the first approved project in the country under the support program HORIZONTE 2020, of the European Union, called AMPERE (Asset Mapping Platform for Emerging Countries Electrification).

AMPERE project is based on the use of Satellite Navigation Global System of the European Union (constellation GALILEO and EGNOS), as a tool of precision, joining with the help of RPAS Remote Pilot Aircrafts System make georeferenced drawing up in the electrical nets to detect, by mean of different types of cameras and sensors, anomalies and loses of energy in the wiring of low and high tension. Better efficiency in the technical and administrative management of the electrical sector in the country is a pursuit through different processes of data collection as GIS (Geographic Information System) processing.

PRAE, the management unit of initiatives and specialized projects in the aeronautical and aerospace branch, is an effort of the strategic alliance on UNPHU-IDAC, which has been doing a collaboration work with the Delegation of the European Union to disseminate by mean of projects as AMPERE, the benefits of the use of the Global Satellite Navigation System and its different applications in multiple sectors.

As part of the activities of spreading, last year was held the first webinar “Perspectives of the Satellite Navigation in the Dominican Republic: GALILEO and AMPERE project, with the attendance of the Unit of Projects Execution (UEO), from Dominican Corporation of Electrical State Companies (CDEEE) as the Management of Aerial navigation (DINA), and Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC).
