Specialists at the Cincinnati Pediatric Hospital, Ohio, USA, offer a lecture at UNPHU

Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), its Faculty of Health Sciences and its School of Medicine, presented the conference «Clinical decisions in medicine: how we learn and act» by doctors Javier González del Rey, pediatrician emergency, co-director of Medical Education, Cincinnati Pediatric Hospital, Ohio, USA and David Showenerd, head of the Pediatric Emergency Unit of that hospital. 

At the conference, Dr. González del Rey noted the importance of a good physical examination and reliance on laboratory analyzes for an accurate diagnosis that leads to personalized treatment and better patient evolution. He also expressed that even with the new times of artificial intelligence it is still of great value to have a full and dedicated examination of the case that warrants making decisions in a short time.

During the visit, the specialists were recognized as distinguished visitors, receiving a scroll. They also took a tour of the different facilities for the study of health science, which included the Alejandro Capellán Anatomical Institute, the National Brain Bank and the simulation hospital, among others. 

Welcoming remarks were offered by Dr. William Duke, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, at the event on Wednesday, 4 October 2023, in the Conference Room of Building 3, which was attended by students, teachers, coordinators, deans and directors.
