Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), through its Faculty of Health Sciences and School of Medicine, in coordination with the Directorate of Institutional Experience; recognized as a distinguished graduate Dr. Karim Nazer, who received the scroll from the rector, architect Miguel Fiallo Calderón.
The graduate was recognized for having excelled in his successful professional occupation. Dr. Karim Nazer has a deep knowledge of hospital management systems and administrative processes at hospitals. Since 1994 he has also led an HIV clinic in the U.S. health system, the first occupational medicine program in the region.
At the event, which took place in the rectory of the university; attended Dr. Dr. William Duke, dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Dr. Claudia Scharf, director of the School of Medicine and Laura Veloz Espejo, Director of the Directorate of Institutional Experience and Graduate Management.
About Dr. Karim Nazer del Valle
Dr. Nazer is a member of the American College of Physicians with specialties in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, has held various medical and administrative positions at Danbury Health Systems and Danbury Hospital. It is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Infectious Diseases, and is an advanced member of the American College of Medical Executives, the American Society for Quality and Society of Infectious Diseases of America, MGMA/ACMPE, and ACHE.
He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Danbury Hospital and the College of Medicine from Yale University, after earning his medical degree at UNPHU in 1987. He earned a master’s degree in public health and completed a combined infectious disease fellowship at the University of Illinois Michael Reese Medical Center in Chicago. He also holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY.
