Dr. Carlos García Lithgow is recognized as a Fellow by the American Society of Angiography and Cardiovascular Intervention.

The distinguished graduate of the National University Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), Dr. Carlos Heriberto García Lithgow, was elected as a Fellow of the American Society of Angiography and Cardiovascular Intervention (SCAI). The induction ceremony for the new members was held during the annual Scientific Sessions meeting, in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 21.

He was also recognized as a Scientific Member for having made substantial contributions in the field of angiography and cardiac and endovascular interventions, as evidenced in the research he has conducted in this area, nationally and internationally by the SCAI, in October 2021.

Dr. García Lithgow is an interventionist cardiologist, pioneer in the Dominican Republic in performing several medical procedures, including the first cardiovascular infusion with hemodilution, the first coronary angioplasty, the first pulmonary valvuloplasty in adults, first implantation of coronary stent, first mitral valvuloplasty by INOUE technique, first pulmonary valvulopathy in adults and the first intravascular ultrasound in 1996.

Dr. Carlos Heriberto García Lithgow is a Graduate of 1985, is an interventionist cardiologist physician, has a certificate in Sports Cardiology, and is currently practicing in several health centers, as head of the department of Hemodynamics in CEDIMAT, head of the department of Hemodynamics of CECANOT, in Corazones Unidos and is professor of residence cardiology in CEDIMAT. He is the author of several medical books and scientific articles, a member of several medical societies, a Fellow of the International Holter Monitoring Society and a Co-founder of the Dominican Society of Interventional Cardiology.
